Kathmandu BernHardt School and College proudly marked World Environment Day 2025 with a vibrant and meaningful celebration across its junior and senior wings. Held within the college premises, the event was a resounding success, bringing students, teachers, and staff together in a unified call for environmental awareness and action.
World Environment Day, celebrated globally on June 5th, is a powerful reminder of the urgent need to care for our planet. This year’s celebration at BernHardt was centered on the theme “Our Land, Our Future”, focusing on environmental preservation, climate awareness, and sustainable living. Our students not only understood the importance of this day but took active steps to demonstrate their knowledge, creativity, and commitment to protecting nature.
From the early hours of the day, the atmosphere at BernHardt was filled with energy and excitement. The program began with a special assembly where students delivered powerful speeches and presentations on the growing environmental issues such as pollution, climate change, deforestation, and plastic waste. They highlighted how these issues are impacting human lives and how young people can become agents of change in reversing the damage done.
One of the most striking elements of the celebration was the involvement of our Junior BernHardtians, who participated enthusiastically in various creative activities. Art, as a form of expression, played a key role in the day’s events. The young learners created thoughtful drawings, paintings, and posters with messages on environmental conservation, wildlife protection, and sustainable practices. These beautiful artworks were displayed throughout the college premises, turning our school into a gallery of eco-conscious inspiration.
In addition to artwork, both junior and senior students engaged in several hands-on activities such as:
Plantation programs within the school grounds
Eco-friendly classroom decoration contests
Nature-based storytelling sessions
Quiz competitions on climate facts and environmental challenges
The event served not only as a celebration but also as an educational platform to instill values of responsibility, sustainability, and respect for nature in our students. Teachers guided the sessions with interactive discussions, helping students connect global environmental issues with local action.
As a part of the day’s conclusion, students collectively took a Green Pledge, vowing to adopt environmentally responsible behavior in their daily lives—such as reducing plastic use, conserving water, planting trees, and spreading awareness within their communities.
At BernHardt, we believe that education is not only about academic success but also about nurturing responsible citizens. The World Environment Day 2025 celebration was a testament to our commitment to holistic development, where environmental education and action go hand in hand.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the students, faculty members, and organizers who made this event impactful and inspiring.
